New Garbage Collection Program
The City's new (Summer 2016) garbage collection program uses City-issued, 96-gallon trash carts and trucks with automated, mechanical arms to lift and empty the carts. Refer to the 96-gallon Trash Cart Guide (see below) for instructions on the proper use of the carts.
Excessive Quantity of Waste
Per Section 979.05, Codified Ordinances of the City of Youngstown, waste in an amount in excess of 20 cubic yards will incur additional charges ($500.00 minimum). Refer to the following document for more information.
When To Put Out Your Trash
- Per Section 979.02(b), Codified Ordinances of the City of Youngstown, trash may not be placed at the curb more than 12 hours prior to collection and trash receptacles must be removed from the curb no more than 24 hours after collection.
- Holidays can affect garbage collection schedules. Refer to the Holiday Sanitation Schedule (see Public Notices above) for more information.
